Carley Cullen is originally from Winfield, IL. She attended the University of Iowa where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. She received her MFA in Graphic Design from the University of Iowa, with a secondary emphasis in Printmaking. Carley also received her Graduate Certificate in Book Arts and Book Technologies at the University of Iowa Center for the Book.
Carley's body of work weaves together techniques in graphic design and letterpress printing to create a visual vocabulary that conveys her experiences with anxiety. She is interested in the emotions found in combinations of texture, line and color. Carley aims to educate her audiences and bring awareness to these mental health concerns through interactive exhibitions and public installations.
Carley is currently located in Austin, Texas where she is an Adjunct Professor of Graphic Design at University of Texas at Austin and St. Edward's University. In her free time, you'll find her running, cycling or printing different bits of ephemera on her tabletop C&M press.
